PHOTOS: Thousands freeze their fur off at the Polar Bear Plunge

Thousands took a dip in the frigid Chesapeake Bay Saturday for the the 17th Annual MSP Polar Bear Plunge, which benefits Special Olympics Maryland. The event was expected to bring in $2.8M for the organization.

In 2012 the MSP Polar Bear Plunge raised $2.6 million for Special Olympics Maryland. They expect to surpass that amount this year with pledges from over 12,000 "plungers" and other contributors.
