PHOTOS: Thousands freeze their fur off at the Polar Bear Plunge

Thousands took a dip in the frigid Chesapeake Bay Saturday for the the 17th Annual MSP Polar Bear Plunge, which benefits Special Olympics Maryland. The event was expected to bring in $2.8M for the organization.

The MSP Polar Bear Plunge has a festive, Halloween party-styled atmosphere with costume contests before each of the two scheduled afternoon dips into the freezing waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
