Same-sex couples marry in Maryland (photos)
Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake officiated same-sex weddings in Maryland a little after midnight on Jan. 1. Same-sex couples are now legally allowed to marry in Maryland, the first state south of the Mason-Dixon Line to allow gay marriage.
Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake officiated the wedding of William Tasker (right), 60, and James Scales, 68, just past midnight on New Year's Day. The couple was the first of seven to be married inside City Hall early on Tuesday morning.
