Same-sex couples marry in Maryland (photos)

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake officiated same-sex weddings in Maryland a little after midnight on Jan. 1. Same-sex couples are now legally allowed to marry in Maryland, the first state south of the Mason-Dixon Line to allow gay marriage.

After the first wedding, Rawlings-Blake read from a Marriage Equality Day proclamation, while the six other couples awaited their turn to be married.
