Omega Moon Over Cape Elizabeth, Maine
Here's a neat sequence of images of the moonrise over Cape Elizabeth, Maine. What's really cool in this series is the inverted image, or mirage, of the moon. The effect, called Omega, occurs when refraction in the lower atmosphere, due to a steep temperature gradient with height, creates the inferior image below the moon. The distortion goes away when moon gets higher.
