Pollution Spreads Across Ocean Shipping Lanes

An Ozone Monitoring Instrument on NASA’s Aura satellite shows tracks of increased nitrogen dioxide along a shipping route in the Indian Ocean. Other shipping lanes that go through the Gulf of Aden, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea also show elevated levels, too. Lack of light in the Arctic prevents measurements to be taken here.
