The Oscar Roadtrip stops in D.C.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences launched Oscar Roadtrip this week to build buzz for the big show. Thursday, fans were able to hold him, take pictures with him and even give pretend acceptance speeches.

According to The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences website, the statuette is made with a "britannia metal, a pewter-like alloy which is then plated in copper, nickel silver, and finally, 24-karat gold."
