Popemobile around the world (photos)

The "Popemobile" has been around the world...including a stop in Washington, D.C. There are actually a variety of papal vehicles. Some are bulletproof, some allow the Pope to stand, but all "Popemobiles" are designed to keep His Holiness safe while greeting the thousands of Catholics who turn out to see him all over the world.

Washington, D.C.

Pope Benedict XVI waves from the Pope-mobile as he passes the White House on April 16, 2008, following a welcoming ceremony in his honor on the South Lawn. This is a White House photo taken by Chris Greenberg.
