Everyone has a story to tell, and no one knows that better than journalist Kellye Lynn, who has shared countless news stories through print, radio and television.
Kellye anchors the weekend evening newscasts at ABC7/WJLA-TV and NewsChannel 8 and serves as a general assignment reporter. She joined the station in 2013, a homecoming of sorts for Kellye.
The Silver Spring, Md., native attended Montgomery County Public Schools and dreamed of someday becoming a television news anchor. She majored in broadcast journalism at Howard University and landed an on-air position at WHUR-FM when she was a teenager. After graduation, Kellye headed to Meridian, Mississippi where she worked as a general assignment reporter and anchor at WTOK-TV (ABC).
A year later, she was hired at NewsChannel 8 as a reporter where she covered a variety of stories ranging from fires to crime to education and politics. After spending three years at NewsChannel 8, Kellye secured a position at Baltimore’s CBS affiliate. At WJZ-TV she anchored the #1 rated Eyewitness News at Noon and covered the health beat. Editors at Baltimore Magazine repeatedly selected Kellye as “Best Anchor” and described her approach to delivering the news as “polished and personable.”
Now back in the D.C. area where she grew up, the wife and mother of two feels fortunate to be able to cover the news in her hometown. In her words, “Working in television news is the fulfillment of a childhood dream for me. There is no job I would rather do and if all goes as planned, I’ll be doing this for a very long time.”
