New York City police have determined that a photo of a boy riding a subway train is not that of Avonte Oquendo, an autistic boy missing for nearly a month.
Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Wednesday the officer encountered Avonte Oquendo at the front door of the Riverside School in Queens and told him to go back upstairs. But he went down the hallway and out through a side door.
Fourteen-year-old Avonte Oquendo walked away from his school on Oct. 4, sparking a search that has grown to include more than 100 officers, helicopters, marine units and volunteers.
