Federal bus safety regulators have shut down 52 companies, including an already scrutinized D.C. bus line, in what they describe as a major nationwide crackdown on unsafe outfits.
Investigators say that Advanced Ventures falsified annual vehicle inspection documents. Authorities also say inspections of five buses found 39 safety violations; two vehicles were immediately placed out of service.
