Maryland's Board of Education has adopted new student discipline regulations. Under the new regulations, local school systems must adopt policies that reduce long-term out-of-school suspensions and expulsions.
D.C.'s Friendship Collegiate Academy holds the distinction of winning the city's first unified high school football title. It also accounted for nearly a quarter of all expulsions from D.C. schools in 2011-12.
