George Washington University issued a statement Tuesday apologizing for not clearly communicating how it factors a student's ability to pay the school's hefty tuition into its admissions decisions.

George Washington University admitted to the school's newspaper that it has a policy of wait-listing students who cannot afford its tuition, a contradiction from its stated policy of being "need-blind" in admissions.
Enrollment is up at Howard University this year following a five percent decline a year ago. The University currently boasts its second-largest freshman class in 15 years.
