The Rev. Jesse Jackson is accepting an invitation by Colombia's largest guerrilla army to mediate the release of an American man it has held since June, Kevin Scott. In Havana, Jackson says he also hopes to meet with jailed American government subcontractor Alan Gross, a Maryland resident.
More than 5,000 people followed Vice President Joe Biden and U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma to commemorate the "Bloody Sunday" beating of voting rights marchers - including a young Lewis - by state troopers in March 1965.
