Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library
“Promising Futures” is a D.C. teen group that performs hip-hop shows about life skills for young people. On Wednesday, they were performing at the Martin Luther King Library when their belongings were stolen from the back room.
After seven years, D.C.'s Chief Librarian Ginnie Cooper is retiring and going back home to Oregon. She leaves behind a legacy that includes 17 new or renovated libraries and a tripling of circulation.
Washington's main public library could share space with a tenant to fund major renovations needed to keep the building operational.
