Jason Collins became the NBA's first active openly gay player Sunday, signing a 10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets. With a need for another big man, the Nets turned to the 7-foot Collins, who helped them reach two NBA Finals in the early 2000s.
Nene scored 12 of his 20 points in the final 4½ minutes of the fourth quarter, including a putback with 1.2 seconds to play that sent the game to overtime, and the Wizards topped the Brooklyn Nets 112-108.
