After getting an Olympic send-off from Secretary of State John Kerry, Alex Ovechkin scored his NHL-leading 40th goal with 12:14 remaining Thursday night as the Washington Capitals rallied from a third-period deficit for a 4-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets.
The Capitals went north of the border Tuesday night, beating the Winnipeg Jets on the road, 5-4.
The Washington Capitals had not lost in a home opener in 10 seasons before their Tuesday night 4-2 loss to Winnipeg. Now 0-2, there's already grumbling about the team's stumbling start to the shortened season.
