Today's Forecast Updated Friday at 7:30 PM
A late weekend storm will likely bring a mix of snow and rain to parts of the mid-Atlantic.
- Mainly Clear and Breezy
- Lows: 12°-20°
- Wind: Northwest 15-25 mph
- Mostly Sunny, Cold and Breezy
- Highs: 28°-33°
- Wind: Northwest 10-20 mph
- PM Snow Mix to Rain
- Highs: upper 30s
- Wind: South 5-10 mph
Windy conditions will continue during the overnight hours with temperatures in the teens. Although lows in the District will be near 20 degrees, wind chills will fall to the single digits under mainly clear skies. Sunshine returns Saturday with highs only in the upper 20s and lower 30s. If you have plans to be outdoors, be mindful that wind chills will only be in the teens.
Clouds begin to increase early Sunday as a storm system moves from the Great Lakes towards the Atlantic Coast. Most major D.C. storms come from the south, this one is coming from the west. If this system passed to our south, rather than passing overhead, measurable snow could be possible. If the track should pass to our north, we would see little if any snow. At this point, it appears to be heading right at us, so the StormWach 7 Forecast Team believes the Metro area could see a couple of inches before it turns to rain. The farther north you are from DC, the more snow you will see. But you may have to be closer to the Mason Dixon Line to see significant snow. By Monday morning, all the precipitation may briefly turn to snow before ending.
