It was too soon to put away the gloves and the winter coat! With temperatures dipping into the 30s and 40s overnight - and with frost and freeze warnings overnight - our earlier fling with spring seems to have ground to a halt. After an exceptionally wet and windy week, this weekend won't see any appreciable improvement. High temperatures both today and tomorrow will hover around 60 - a full 10 degrees below normal - and the chances of rain are high later today, tonight, and again tomorrow morning. Our recent April showers have tipped the rain gauge for the month to well over 2 inches with the prospect of another 1/4 to 1/2 inch through tomorrow. The good news is that mostly dry conditions are expected until later this afternoon and then again tomorrow afternoon. Look for sunshine to return on Monday, but the warmth of spring will remain elusive: highs will be only in the upper 50s. Partly to mostly sunny skies should persist through the rest of the week - the exception being Thursday when a few showers are possible - but temperatures will struggle to reach 70. Still, Mother Nature is not being deterred by the unseasonable chill: the grass looks good and already needs mowing; the azaleas are about to burst; and based on the amount of yellow dust on our cars, the pollen producing plants seem not to care at all! Enjoy your weekend.
