Today won't be nearly as perfect as Saturday as clouds will be on the increase and temperatures should be cooler in the mid 60s. Winds will be breezy at times out of the east around 10-15 m.p.h. This is in response to a potent area of low pressure and associated frontal boundary which will help overspread rain to the region this afternoon. The timing of the rain looks to enter the D.C. Metro area between 4pm and 7pm.
Latest Blog: Heavy rain tonight and severe storms Monday
Rain will continue overnight, possibly heavy at times, and should exit the region Monday morning around the commute. Upwards of an inch of rain will be possible so ponding on the roadways may occur overnight into tomorrow morning. Monday will be warmer with highs in the upper 70s under partly sunny skies. The trailing cold front will move through during the day bringing the chance for thunderstorms by the afternoon. A few storms may become strong to severe with damaging winds as the primary threat.
Cooler temperatures will settle into the region the remainder of the week with highs in the 60s Wednesday through next Saturday.
