Today's Forecast Updated Saturday at 9:37 AM
Look for an unseasonably cold and windy start to the weekend with temperatures reaching only the lower 40s. Winds gusting to 30 mph and the possibility of snow flurries will make it feel like a winter's day.

- Wind: NW 10-15/G 30 mph
- Partly Cloudy & Cold
- Lows: 18-27
- Wind: NW 10-15/G 20 mph
- Mostly Sunny, Still Unseasonably Chilly
- Highs: 47-52
- Wind: W 5-10 mph
Just when you thought it was safe to put away the heavy jacket, winter is staging yet one more encore performance this weekend. With blustery winds, temperatures in the 30s and 40s, and even some scattered snow flurries, today will bear all the hallmarks of a mid-January day in Washington. A deep trough over the eastern U.S. will let arctic air descend over the region, a pattern that has plagued us since December. However the unseasonable chill - the normal high for this weekend is 60 - won't survive long into next week. In fact, a southwesterly flow should warm temperatures on Monday into the lower 60s and keep them there through the remainder of the week. Indeed, readings near 70 are possible by Thursday. So as the day's continue to lengthen - and starting today the sun rises before 7 AM - and the sun's rays intensify, spring will inexorably make its way to the stage and winter will get the hook! NOTE: While not a record we'd like to break, its possible tonight's lows in the 20s could shatter the record lows for the date (18 at DCA and 20 at Dulles). Bundle up and enjoy your Saturday.
