Much cooler heading into the holiday weekend.
A cold front moving across the Appalachians is producing scattered heavy to severe thunderstorms across the mid-Atlantic. Storms will be capable of producing torrential downpours, hail, frequent lightning and damaging winds. Showers and storms will ease overnight as the front crosses the Chesapeake Bay. An area of upper level energy will slowly cross our area tomorrow keeping skies mostly cloudy. It will also keep temperatures well below average as strong gusty winds deliver much cooler air to the region.
A large area of Canadian High Pressure will build into the area clearing skies and adding a definite chill into the Memorial Day Weekend. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny through the weekend but high temperatures will only climb to around 70 degrees or the lower 70s each day.
Going to the Delmarva beaches? Partly cloudy skies with a chance of showers on Saturday, then dry weather on Sunday and Monday. Highs will be in the lower to middle 60s.
