Front approaching will bring holiday weekend changes.
With high pressure anchored over the western Atlantic, southerly winds are well established. These winds will continue to draw in warmer and more humid air until a cold front crosses the area on Thursday afternoon. There will be lots of sunshine at times and high temperatures will climb well into the 80s. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and Wednesday. As the cold front approaches on Thursday, showers and thunderstorms will become more numerous and widespread.
A large area of cool, high pressure will start building into the region on Friday and provide lots of sunshine into the Memorial Day Weekend. Temperatures may not get past 70 degrees on Friday buy should reach the lower 70s on Saturday and Sunday. Warmer air should start moving back into our area on Monday but that could mean a mostly cloudy day with a couple showers, as the warm front approaches. Not calling for rain on Monday at this point, just mentioning it because it is not out of the question. As the weekend gets closer, the forecast will come into sharper focus.
