After a week of mostly cloudy skies, drenching rains, and the chilliest day since late April - Wednesday's "high" was only 58 - this weekend will be pure autumnal splendor! With high pressure in control, today will feature plenty of sunshine, light winds from the west, and temperatures near 70. With the jet stream well to our north, low dew points, and nary a raindrop anywhere near the Washington area, the weekend could hardly start on a better note. However a low pressure center in Canada dropping south and a cold front moving through early tomorrow will bring some subtle changes to Sunday's weather. The morning lows for Marine Marathon Day will be in the 50s and sunshine will be abundant, but northwesterly winds will arrive. Given the proximity of the Canadian low, the pressure gradient will make for a rather breezy day here with winds gusting up to 30 mph. Thereafter, the coming week will stay unseasonably mild; even though frost is possible Sunday night, highs near 80 are likely on Tuesday. Rain will be at a premium next week with the likelihood of showers not coming until Thursday or Friday. Enjoy autumn at its best this weekend!
